Abstract
Purpose: To examine the ultrasonographic findings of mass marker presented on CAD of digital mammography, and to evaluate the significance of masses which was detected on US but not presented on CAD.

Materials and Methods: The current study was conducted in 559 patients undergone US following digital mammography and CAD. US was performed for bilateral whole breasts and the marked area on CAD meticulously. Both identified masses on US and masses detected on US but not marked on CAD were described according to BI-RADS.

Results: CAD marked 551 densities among 2194 digital mammograms. The number of mass markers identified on US was 106 and 78 markers were finally identified on US. BI-RADS categories of these included;C2(19), C3(22), C4(24), C5(13). A core biopsy was performed for 32 masses and they were confirmed to 14 of malignancy, one of ADH and 17 of benign. The number of patients having some masses identified on US but not marked on CAD was 124. BI-RADS of these patients include;C2(30), C3(71), C4(23). Of these, 26 patients underwent biopsies and all produced benign.

Conclusion: Of mass markers presented on CAD, 19.2% had a mass on US and only 3.6% produced breast cancers. Although some masses were detected on US, there was no breast cancer among them.
